What makes Cult of Sauna different from other sauna hats?+
Most sauna hats are made from thin, machine-manufactured felt sheets stitched together. Cult of Sauna hats are handmade from dense New Zealand wool to ~6mm thickness — roughly 3–6× thicker than standard alternatives. ThermaWool™ is a single unified felt structure, not a stitched assembly, so it insulates evenly, holds its shape, and performs under sustained heat the way thin hats simply cannot.
Won’t a wool hat make me hotter?+
It feels counterintuitive, but no — it does the opposite. Dense wool insulates your scalp from the sauna’s rising heat and wicks moisture, so your head stays cooler and more comfortable while your body still gets the full session. It’s exactly why sauna cultures have worn wool hats for generations.
Will it actually fit my head?+
Yes. The hat is one-size-fits-most, designed to comfortably fit head circumferences up to ~62cm. The wool also moulds to your head over time through heat and wear, so it becomes more personal with every session.
How do I care for it?+
Air dry after each use. Wool is naturally antimicrobial, so it stays fresh with minimal maintenance. If it needs a wash, spot wash gently with cold water and lay flat to dry. Never put it in a machine or dryer or fully soak the hat.
How long will it last?+
Built for hundreds of sessions. Dense handmade wool holds its structure and doesn't degrade the way synthetic alternatives do. Several of our earliest customers are still using their original hats after regular use for over a year.
